“Scripture tells us that love must be at the center of everything we do. With God’s love even the poorest people are able to assist others. We are strengthened by God’s Word, ‘Therefore as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved clothe your self with compassion. Kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive what ever grievances you may have against one another forgive us as the Lord forgave you. And overall these virtues put on love which binds them all together in perfect unity.” - Jessie Hara
"Our team in Malawi reaches 150 children with an education through the “Hope Home Mission School”
"A feeding program and Bible club at the school and in surrounding communities provides nutritious food and the hope of the Gospel message for local children."
Meet Pastor Joseph and Jessie Hara, our National Directors in Malawi. Jessie’s late husband, Pastor Joseph Hara studied at the Baptist Theological Seminary. In 1994 he became pastor of the River Jordan Baptist Church. He and his wife Jessie began ministering to the hearts and souls of the people in their community – addressing both spiritual poverty and physical poverty. They say about their ministry: “[We] became involved in ministry because so many people did not know the way of salvation. [We] soon realized that the Gospel message was more than preaching salvation. Many people did not know the way out of poverty.” Each day in Area 44 in Lilongwe Malawi, 150 children race to the Hope Home Mission School run by Jessie. The school provides the necessary education and feeding to sustain these children and teach them reading, critical thinking skills and biblical values so they can grow up and change their family, community, and nation for Christ. In 2020, Pastor Joseph passed away suddenly after an illness. Jessie has carried on his legacy through their shared ministry.
